The Canol Heritage Trail is one of the most remote trails in the world. Rugged and scenic, the trail traces the remains of the Canol Road that was built as an oil pipeline during the Second World War. The trail is primarily used for walkers, but a portion of it can be used for cycling: from Godlin Lakes to Macmillan Pass, about 60 miles. The trail is covered with snow for most of the year and treks are not recommended until at least mid-July. This trail is for experienced and advanced trekkers only, and those familiar with the cautions of nature. Bears frequent the entirety of the trail. Those travelling the trail should register with the local RCMP in Ross River.
